Why counselling skills matter in today's classroom.
60-second course intro
What you'll hear about:
Before the training, I usually tried to give students solutions straight away. The sessions helped me understand the importance of listening first and understanding what the student is actually going through. The practical examples made it much easier to relate to situations in my own classroom.
I really liked that the training was not only theory. We discussed situations that can actually happen at school, especially when dealing with students and parents. It gave me some simple ways to handle those conversations more calmly.
One thing I took from the training was to listen without judging. I realised that sometimes students don't need an immediate answer; they need someone who will actually listen to them. That was a very useful learning for me.
There are many situations at school where you don't know what to say or how to respond, especially when a student is upset or a parent is unhappy. The training gave me more confidence to handle these conversations and think before reacting.
